Felix Schwartz´ career as versatile musician on manifold occasions was launched by two prizes at the International Music Competition at Geneva. He was engaged at the Staatskapelle Berlin as principal viola soloist already during his student years. At the same time he singlemindedly pursued his artistic career as soloist and chamber musician. He worked with artists such as Daniel Barenboim, Elena Bashkirova, Yefim Bronfman, Giora Feidman, Michael Gielen, Boris Pergamenshikov, Nikolaj Znaider, and Pinchas Zukerman. Reknowned European orchestras and various international festivals have invited him.

A dedicated chamber musician, he founded, among others, the “Trio Apollon“, featuring in numerous CD recordings, such as, for example, the CD “Wasserspiele“ (with works by Enescu, Poulenc, Françaix, Kurtág and Matthus), awarded the “ECHO“ Prize in 2006. Together with Daniel Barenboim and Matthias Glander, Felix Schwartz recorded Mozart´s “Kegelstatt-Trio” in 2006 for EMI.

The viola artist teaches as professor at the Hochschule für Musik Rostock, he is also the founder of the Winter Academy Schloss Kröchlendorff. His dedication to the qualification of young instrumentalists is also demonstrated by his mentoring of the “West-Eastern Divan Workshop for Orchestra and Chamber Music“ (under the aegis of Daniel Barenboim) and his directorship of a viola class at the Academy for young musicians at Sevilla.
